Oldenzaal - Netherlands
Early in the morning of Monday January 11, our ESMC staff received an automatic warning that a vehicle had stopped for longer than previously agreed in a parking lot close to the German border. Because the driver did not respond to the various attempts to contact him by telephone, we sent a local security officer to check out the situation. The security officer found that the driver was asleep in his cabin. He indicated that he had felt ill. An ambulance was called, and the driver was transferred to a local hospital. Our local security staff guarded the truck including the cargo until the moment that another driver came to fetch the vehicle.

Breukelen - Netherlands
On Saturday January 9, 2009 a driver failed to return from a test drive with an expensive sports car. The salesman phoned ESMC to inform us that he was worried, since this seemed to be a very long test drive. After checking its position, it turned out that the car was on its way to Belgium. Quick intervention by ESMC staff meant that the police could stop the car, worth 150,000 Euros, close to the Hazeldonk border crossing. Subsequently ESMC arranged for the sports car to be returned to the car dealer in Breukelen.

Antwerp - Belgium
On Friday December 25, 2009 a truck loaded with sports apparel – value 250.000 Euros – was stolen from an Antwerp container terminal. Fortunately, this vehicle was under permanent electronic surveillance. Effective intervention by ESMC staff and the local police meant that the truck and the complete load were located within 1.5 hours and that two thieves could be apprehended.

Bratislava - Slovakia
On Sunday October 4, 2009, during the passive monitoring of three trucks loaded with LCD and Plasma TVs destined for Madrid, the control room staff found that all trucks had departed from the agreed route and were on their way to Zagreb. The convoy came to a standstill about 80 kilometres east of Zagreb.
After consulting our customer, we decided to dispatch staff of our local partner to this location to find out what was going on. When they established that the cargo was in the process of being unloaded, contrary to all procedures, they contacted the police, who arrived soon afterwards. Apart from the three truck drivers another seven people have been arrested. The cargo, valued at around 1.4 million Euros, was been picked up by another transport company and transported to the intended destination in the Madrid region.

Ain Nadjaa - Algeria
On Tuesday September 22, 2009 insurance company Allianz informed us of the theft of an Audi Q8. The lease company had reported the car missing, after it had been taken away after a burglary in the southern Dutch town of Oosterhout. The car could not be located, even though it was equipped with a GPS vehicle tracking system, until we suddenly received a position report after 22 days.
After we had asked a local partner to investigate, it turned out that the Audi Q8 was now parked in Ain Naadja, a suburb south of the Algerian capital Algiers. In the meantime, French registration plates had been mounted on the car. After consulting with the lease company and the insurer, our local partner worked with the Dutch embassy and the local authorities to seize the vehicle and arranged for repatriation of the valuable vehicle to the Netherlands.
